Atlas Copco Rental supports Access Limited with high pressure air to keep roads safe in Southern California

13 July, 2017

Antwerp Belgium, July 13, 2017: When Access Limited, a specialized construction company, was contracted to safeguard travelers from falling rocks and prevent further erosion along the steep sides of a Californian highway, they required high pressure air for their drilling needs. They decided to partner up with Atlas Copco Rental to complete the project.

The work area was located on a steep embankment with slopes that typical construction equipment cannot access, but that is no problem for Access Limited Construction who has years of experience and specialized drilling equipment built to endure difficult terrains.

For this job, they needed to drill 15-ft holes at 10-ft apart from each other along sharp angles and steep slopes. These holes are used to anchor chain nets for rock fall mitigation and safeguard the area.

Air supply for this project needed to be portable and reliable leading Access Limited to call Atlas Copco Rental.

The Atlas Copco Rental team assessed the job requirements and delivered an XRVS 1350 oil-injected diesel compressor. This model provides 1350 cfm at a working pressure between 232 to 392 psi making it a perfect fit for Access Limited’s drilling needs.

Because the compressor was in a rugged area that was not flat, the oil level warning light was triggered.

As a safety standard, the machine would not operate: the Atlas Copco Rental team immediately came up with a custom made solution ensuring full use of the compressed air for the entire duration of the project.

Access Limited was able to complete their work with high satisfaction in just two months.

This project tested the boundaries of equipment functionality under rugged conditions and paved way for a long term working relationship. Plans for a similar project will begin mid-July.

Atlas Copco is one of the best and most reliable rental company’s out there. The equipment is always in perfect shape and very well maintained. When there is a problem, the response time is fast and 24/7 availability is what is most important for us not to have any production downtime.
