A week in the life of .... Becky

I completed a 12-month placement, incorporated with my university degree, within Atlas Copco Power Technique from 2017-2018. I finished my degree and returned to Power Technique in September last year as their Marketing Graduate. I enjoy how much the role varies from day to day; some tasks are routine, other more ad hoc and also some project-based work. My role involves organising exhibition stands, creating printed and digital material, working with the internal sales platforms and everything in between. I am currently focussing on the roll out of a new platform and have been training users and working with them to ensure the system is as beneficial as possible.

It is the marketing team’s responsibility to organise exhibition stands. Just before we attend the exhibitions I go out into the warehouse/yard and check all the products are ready to go, checking correct serial numbers, ensuring the units are clean and working before loading the lorry.

We headed up to The NEC in Birmingham nice and early to set up our exhibition stand for the show. Coordinating with the lorry driver to get the products there on time, delivering the giveaways etc. Setting up and dressing the stand making sure it looks perfect for the show day. Organising exhibition stands take some time so seeing it all come together as planned, is important to me.

I ran a training session today for 2 of our sales engineers, introducing them to our new sales enablement platform ‘Showpad’ and the new quoting feature within our Customer Relationship Management system. These days involve delivering the information, running through examples together and answering any questions they may have, to ensure they feel confident to use the systems to assist their work.

I often create printed and digital marketing material using Adobe InDesign, predominantly to support the sales team. I will create the artwork, source the printing and then distribute to the sales team. Today I created a flyer for our electric compressor range which we are currently focusing on.

I create and post the content on our social media channels, then use the analytics to review the posts engagement. Recently we have been focussing on awareness and compliance with the London Emissions Zones legislation and green energy, so this post, promoting our new electric compressor with zero diesel emission, was a good fit.

International Women's Day (March 8) is a global day celebrating the social, economic, cultural and political achievements of women. The day also marks a call to action for accelerating women's equality. International Women's Day (IWD) has occurred for well over a century, with the first IWD gathering in 1911 supported by over a million people. Today, IWD belongs to all groups collectively everywhere. IWD is not country, group or organisation specific. #IWD2020 #EachforEqual
