On Friday November 9 and Saturday November 10, the world’s best snowboarders gathered in Antwerp, Belgium to compete in Europe’s only FIS Big Air world Cup event this season.

November 12, 2012

For the BIG AIR discipline a 39-meter high ramp was built next to the River Scheldt, providing a unique opportunity for the athletes to show their skills on the highest outdoor snow ramp ever built. Fresh snow of the best quality was needed to safeguard this unique event. With an ambient temperature of around +10°C, fresh snow had to be produced on site. Within 48 hours the slopes were covered with 775m³ of snow. Water and oil-free compressed air are the main ingredient to get this job done and Atlas Copco Rental was approached to deliver oil-free air compressors.

Around 60 international snowboarders participated in this unique event. 20.000 visitors came to Antwerp to enjoy the spectacle, the music and the unique atmosphere. The athletes complimented the smooth organization and the quality of the snow, which put a big smile on their and our faces.
