What’s the difference between torque values?

When looking for your perfect tool for tightening or untightening, consider that each tool has its own performance scale depending on its design, and it will reach a given level of torque after a different amount of time.
There is no industry standard to measuring and reporting on torque values, and torque is presented differently by tool manufacturers. The various methods of measuring torque have ultimately led to much confusion amongst tool users for whom values are important when choosing their operating equipment.
In this video our expert Damien Feller cuts through the confusion, outlining the torque values that are important to consider and demonstrates the difference between working torque and maximum torque with a real life example such as untightening bolts. Tools performance can only be measured in real world applications and Damien explains how operators know that they are using the right tool or not, for the job.
Torque value shouldn’t be your only consideration, it’s important to look at data that can be easily compared, for example, timing, hose length or air pressure. Ultimately, there is nothing better than real life tests.
If the tool cannot reach the targeted torque in an appropriate time for your application, think of changing your tool and choosing one that is more suitable for the job.
