Classic Car Club Gets Modern Touch-and Tools-from Chicago Pneumatic

May 11, 2018

Chicago Pneumatic, international manufacturer of industrial and automotive tools, is happy to support the growing community of vintage BMW owners and hobbyists with a donation of restoration tools at Southeast Sharkfest 2018, the club's annual gathering which took place this year in Greer, SC. Chicago Pneumatic donated tools to the Southeast Sharkfest for the enthusiasts' fundraiser, to support their mission of keeping these classic cars rolling. The donation included orbital sanders, a cut-off tool designed to cut through a variety of materials in tight spaces, and a durable but good-looking angle grinder with a high-performance motor and aluminum alloy housing. All Chicago Pneumatic tools are known for their lightweight, yet powerful, performance capabilities. The retail value of the donated items totaled more than $2,100. "It was very well-received," said Kai Xing, director of the Southeast Sharkfest. "These tools bring our cars back to life." The tools allow easy and efficient restoration of the group's focus cars -- the BMW CS coupes, BMW 6 Series, and BMW 8 Series cars. The CS Coupes were BMW's first touring cars, made between 1968 and 1975, and enthusiasts take great care restoring these cars along with the BMW 6 Series, which were manufactured between 1976 and 1989. The BMW 8 Series cars started production in the 1990's. The 2018 Southeast Sharkfest group was welcomed this year by BMW at their U.S. manufacturing plant in Greer, South Carolina. The self-supporting group included about 80 cars and owners from diverse backgrounds who love the cars and want to keep them in operating condition. "Our focus is keeping these cars on the road," said Xing. Chicago Pneumatic is excited to help keep these classic cars up and running with their support of donations as a secondary sponsor of Southeast Sharkfest.
