Spanish power plant relies on Atlas Copco Rental to flush and air blow steam pipe network

Antwerp, Belgium, June 25, 2014 – Befesa GRI is an international company specializing in chemical cleaning for the petrochemical industry, power plants and thermo solar plants. To clean their newly installed steam pipe network in the Algeciras power plant (south of Spain), the company needed oil-free compressed air.

25 يونيو, 2014

Flushing of new pipe network The steam pipe network of the Algeciras power plant had to be filled with oil-free air at 32 bar which then had to suddenly be released through two big silencers. In doing so, dirt and debris could be blown away, which is called air blowing. 10 PNS’s did the job The combination of the right equipment and know-how made Atlas Copco Rental the perfect fit for the job. 10 PNS’s first filled the pipe network at 24 bar and then fed 2 boosters, in single stage operation, that supplied the 32 bar. Additionally 45 bar line filters were installed to ensure the air quality requirements regarding oil content were met (0.001ppm). To make sure the compressed air flow would not exceed the maximum capacity, and thus blow away the filters, Befesa GRI placed a calibrated orifice after the line filters to limit the flow. Success factors

We are impressed by the speed at which the Atlas Copco Rental compressors could fill and flush the system. The combined availability of the PNS’s, the boosters and competent personnel of both Atlas Copco Rental and Befesa GRI made this project a success.

Mr. Karel KluschKewitz , Technical Director at Befesa GRI
