The Story:
13 Villages of Jalna district of Marathwada region of Maharashtra were consistently battered by drought-like situations, which further added to the issues like decreased farm produce, threatening food security and earning opportunities. Atlas Copco Charitable Foundation stepped in to address the concerns of water scarcity.
Measures were undertaken:
Water conservation and rainwater harvesting measures were followed by renovating the old water harvesting structures to increase the water holding capacity. The irrigation potential and coverage were elevated in the villages and ensured efficient and effective water distribution and application.
The Results:
The project led to harvesting rainwater in check dams/ weirs along the drainage channels, dug wells.
Minimized water loss due to efficient delivery and application systems. It helped in increasing productivity with most output per drop of water.
