StraightFlo compressor valves

The StraightFlo™ valve is integrated in reciprocating compressors, they are effective with all gases, including sweet and sour natural gas, acid gas, CO2, hydrogen, nitrogen, ethylene, air, ammonia, HCl etc.

This revolutionary technology is patented around the world and offers significant improvements over conventional valves.

Description

Superior performance, increased reliability and easier repairs with StraightFlo valves

All StraightFlo™ compressor valves incorporate the same patented Modular Reed Technology. Two model types (StraightFlo™ SE and StraightFlo™ SS) are available to deliver optimal performance and cost-effectiveness for your application.

Technology

Game-changing technology

Our modular design features interchangeable modules held stationary between the valve seat and carrier. There are 12 standard modules in 3 materials, each with varying reed lift and stiffness, so StraightFlo™ valves can cover all speeds and operating conditions of existing compressors and be optimized for any given application.

StraightFlo Valves
Enhanced Reed Valve
Each StraightFlo™ module is an enhanced reed valve, designed with a straight-through flow path. Since gas doesn’t have to traverse a tortuous, high-loss path (as with other valves), StraightFlo™ valves have the highest effective area for a given diameter. What’s more, the sealing components in a StraightFlo™ module don’t move or impact the metal housings. So wear-and-tear is completely contained inside the modules. What’s more, compressors with StraightFlo™ valves typically operate at 1/10th the vibration levels of those with conventional valves.
Resonance resistance
Since the reeds act as both the sealing element and the spring element, the lowest natural frequency of our modules is 250Hz, well above any excitation force from an engine or motor. This high separation from excitation forces practically eliminates failure due to resonances. It also makes our valves suited to much higher speeds than those commonly experienced in the field. Compare this to a maximum of 30Hz for poppet valves and about 80Hz for plate/ring valves where a mass (poppet/plate/ring) has helical coil springs supporting it.

Benefits

Technical benefits

Interchangeable, easy to reconfigure
StraightFlo™ modules are interchangeable between valves of various sizes and types. They can be easily re-rated for new applications by swapping out the modules, provided the valve seat is pressure-rated for the new use.
Longer service interval
The StraightFlo™ valve, with its modular design, significantly extends service intervals by 5 to 35 times. It allows for quick, on-site servicing by simply swapping out modules, eliminating the need for spare valves and offsite machining. This innovative approach reduces inventory by over 80%, efficiently covering all compressor needs with just 6 to 8 module types.
Reduced noise pollution
With StraightFlo™ valves, noise can be reduced by 6-8dB, and compressors typically operate at just 1/10th the vibration levels compared to those with conventional valves.

SS StraightFlo valves

StraightFlo™ SS (severe service) valves provide unmatched reliability, efficiency, serviceability, and savings in the most demanding downstream applications.

Manufactured with durable stainless steel housings, StraightFlo™ SS valves provide reliable performance with highly corrosive gases encountered in refining, petrochemical, chemical and fertilizer applications.

The StraightFlo™ SS is a drop-in for compressors operating at speeds from 200 to 3600+ rpm, pressure differentials up to 4,350 psi (300 bar), and service temperatures from -40° to 500°F (-40° to 260°C).

SE StraightFlo valves

The StraightFlo™ SE valve is a drop-in replacement compressor valve designed to deliver exceptional performance and unmatched value for reciprocating compressors. They are ideal for upstream and midstream oil and gas applications, as well as industrial gas services such as air, nitrogen, and hydrogen.

The StraightFlo™ SE (Standard Edition) valve features the same proven Modular Reed Valve technology in our renowned StraightFlo™ SS (Severe Service) valve, but with economical 4140 alloy steel housings and corrosion-resistant coating.

StraightFlo Valves

You save up-front with a lower installed cost—and down the line with ongoing savings from extended run times, lower fuel costs, increased throughput, and reduced inventory costs.

StraightFlo™ SE valves are for compressor speeds from 200 to 3600+ rpm, pressure differentials up to 4,350 psi (300 bar), service temperatures from -40° to 500°F (-40° to 260°C), and for non-corrosive or mildly corrosive gases including sweet and sour natural gas, air, NGL, and industrial gases.
