Talk with our Internship
Shamik Dutta Majumdar
1. Tell us about yourself & which department that you have been a trainee in.
2. Why have you applied for an internship at our company
Atlas Copco is one of the most famous and respected compressed air companies in the world. Therefore, I was interested in developing and enhancing my writing/ communicating skills in a real-life work setting, especially in a multinational industrial company like Atlas Copco.
3. What experiences/skills do you hope to gain from your time at our company?
I hope to enhance my communication/writing skills for different target groups from working experience at Atlas Copco. In addition, I wish to learn new things such as how to attract consumers by increasing their demand/need to buyer journey through content creation.
4. And after finishing the internship, what did you learn from us?
I learnt about both communication and technical skills. I learned to write in a particular way to create interest in the customer and create trust in Atlas Copco. I also learned about the specific product, an “Oil-free Compressor”, its role, how its energy is efficient, and why it would be perfect for the customer.
5. What do you like most during your internship?
I liked learning about Atlas Copco’s product and how energy efficient the product is. I also liked working with the Senior Marketing & Communication Specialist, Khun Tanya, who was helpful throughout the course of this short project.
6. Tell us about a situation where you took the initiative or took on a leadership role
In high school, I was a co-leader for a group that donated clothes to the ones in need to a charity called “The White Elephant”, located in Nonthaburi, Thailand. First, we raised awareness of donating to those in need by making posters all around the school. Then, we placed charity boxes, where it indicated to put any clothing materials to donate those items to the charity.
7. Tell us about an assignment of the project from start to finish, what went well, and what would you have done differently?
In the short project assigned by Atlas Copco, I initially started with research about the customer, Barilla Hellas, and the AC product, ZS oil-free screw blower. I made a document with information about the customer and its goals and the current machine they are using. I also compiled information on how the ZS screw blower from Atlas will be perfect for Barilla. One of the main reasons was: it would allow potential energy costs to reduce and it is energy efficient which causes less carbon dioxide emissions to be emitted. After research, I wrote about all the information I collected. I learned to write the information in a specific way that would interest consumers. The part that I would do differently, would be the technical information on our product. I think I did not put enough information on the optimization, adaption, and technical specifications of the ZS screw blower. Thus, I could've done more research and organized all that information, and compiled them into the project.
8. Tell us about a time you had to learn something completely new.
A time where I learned something new was when I had to interview a CEO. I did not have any experience in conducting any sort of interview before. That is why it was exciting and intimidating. I learned what kind of questions to ask and took notes from my teachers and family.
