Atlas Copco supports local societies to manage the ongoing crisis

April 7, 2020

Atlas Copco has a history of strong social engagement in the communities. In the challenging situation the world is facing, many of Atlas Copco’s colleagues and local companies around the world have found new ways to offer support.

As communities around the world are now facing an immediate health crisis, Atlas Copco can, and does, help in many different ways.

Atlas Copco’s products are used in many applications that are critical for providing health care and to save lives, for example in the pharmaceutical industry. Other products are key to support public service, such as powering and lighting field hospitals or supporting the production of food. In some countries where the governments and local authorities have closed down production sites, Atlas Copco has been given exceptions as the company supports critical sectors and functions in society.

Apart from the key support the products give to critical equipment and functions, as a company Atlas Copco can also help society in other ways. These are some examples of the local society engagement initiatives Atlas Copco has done on the local level during the ongoing crisis :

In China, soon after the COVID-19 outbreak, Atlas Copco donated compressors to a newly built hospital to treat COVID-19 patients and also provided financial support.

In India, the company supports governmental food programs related to migrant workers and daily wage earners/laborers in need of basic food supplies.

In Belgium, Atlas Copco has used their 3D printers to produce sanitary door handles for local hospitals with COVID-19 patients.

In Sweden, the company has supported the construction of field hospitals with compressors, filters and expertise. In many countries, Atlas Copco delivers protection masks to hospitals.

Atlas Copco’s Group Management encourages local initiatives to support communities where we work and live, in any way relevant. We welcome these social engagement initiatives

Protecting our employees, our operations and the society where we operate

March 25, 2020

Our focus in the COVID-19 outbreak is to reduce risks and not spreading the disease further, within our own teams and with customers and other external stakeholders. This includes travel restrictions, protective health measures, avoid physical meetings and a work from home policy when and where circumstances allow. For employees who are not able to work from home, primarily in our production facilities, we take extra measures to make sure their work environment is as safe as possible.

As a global citizen and leading industrial solutions provider, Atlas Copco has a role to play in battling the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic. Our products and service solutions are key parts of many critical processes, like food and pharmaceutical production, water treatment, logistics, portable energy sources and medical air supply. We are working hard to safeguard as much of our operations as possible and help our customers and societies stay up and running. Due to governmental regulations and lockdowns, we have had to temporarily limit our production in some markets. Wherever possible, we maintain production directly related to critical sectors and supply chains.

These are uncertain times, but as a global citizen we will do everything we can to limit the impact of the COVID-19 outbreak.
