Atlas Copco’s Success Case –Operativity in Time of Crisis
Operating for our Clients in Time of Crisis After the beginning of the contingency the world is facing, Atlas Copco in Chile, following the guidelines of the group; during the last three weeks has started taking different measures to protect our staff against COVID-19, facilitating remote work for 65% of our employees, thus, reducing the personnel in our new offices in Santiago to the minimum, disinfecting work areas, maintaining a minimum distance of 1.5mts (6ft.), providingN95 face masks, disinfecting wipes, and alcohol-based hand sanitizer to our collaborators.
Since fourteen days we are in quarantine in seven municipality where live approximately1.7million people, have curfew since to 10 pm to 5 am every day, this have impacted our operations in Santiago severely obliging us to adopt measures as putting home office 65% of our people, from the other side continuing to support other 120 CT people operating at 85% in the other 4 branches. So, the big challenge was how to find ways to remain operative as company despite the quarantine areas and curfew.
However, operating results in March was87%. We have asked direct support to the Industrial association of Chile SOFOFA explaining in practical the importance of maintaining in operation the compressed air in all the applications considered critical during the current contingency, in which compressed air is the fourth most used energy after electricity, water, and gas. Without compressed air, it is impossible for the plants declared as critical by the authority to be able to work.
Therefore, Atlas Copco is playing a critical role in the operation chain of the aforementioned areas, which necessarily depend on compressed air to be able to function.
The implications are this statement and certification obtained by Atlas Copco as a company dedicated to the production, supply, and maintenance of services of compressed air systems, power generation systems, and pumping equipment in different sectors which are critical for the operational continuity of the country, such as hospital, private clinics, food and basic goods manufacturing facilities, and in general, any facility that needs air compression systems as basic power.
