Construction and infrastructure
A greener society is taking shape and our solutions are part of the transformation. Electric portable compressors, solar-powered light towers, energy storage systems, hybrid solutions in power, electric dewatering pumps and ergonomic handheld construction equipment are used in the making of bridges, railroads, buildings and large infrastructure projects.
For many construction projects around the world, the focus on sustainable solutions have become essential to get contracts and to keep emission and noise levels in line with strict regulations.
One example is when a new subway line and station was constructed in Brussels, Belgium. Electric portable compressors from Atlas Copco was the natural choice not just on account of ease-of-use, but because fuel-driven engines are to be avoided in underground construction work. The electric compressors were connected to an Energy Storage system, powered by lithium-ion batteries, and could work autonomously without any additional connections. The E-Air compressors are also smaller and much quieter than their diesel equivalents, which are additional benefits on a busy construction site with limited space.
The ZenergiZe range of storage systems is another favorite at sustainable construction sites. Energy Storage systems, working alone or together with other power sources in hybrid mode, are ideally suited for noise-sensitive environments and these compact units dramatically reduce both fuel consumption and CO2 emissions.
For cement plants, we provide energy-efficient compressed air and low-pressure blower solutions. The GA VSD unit reduces energy costs at an average of 35% by automatically adjusting air supply to meet air demand. Bolted wear rings in the PAC dewatering pumps make for precise and simple replacement compared to pressed alternatives, and link belts enable changeovers without having to dismantle the entire wet end of the unit, reducing MTTR (mean time to repair) by up to 30%.
The HiLight S2+ solar light tower can provide autonomous operations all year long, reducing CO2 emissions by up to 6 tons compared with traditional alternatives. It not only increases sustainability on-site, but it also brings significant business advantages.
And last but not least, our Connectivity Solution FleetLink enables our customers to monitor and manage an entire fleet remotely and consequently create a more productive fleet. With Connectivity data, processes become less costly, faster, more efficient and more reliable as we aim for first-time-right service.
