Trang Tran had no experience of programming when she came to Sweden from Vietnam as a freelance journalist in 2020. She joined a web development bootcamp that opened up a whole new world. “The enormous opportunities with coding astonished me,” Trang says.
“I have always been involved in finding smart solutions and thinking out of the box. I take climate change and energy recovery by heart. For me it’s more than a job – it’s a passion,” says Rasmus Rubycz.
"Controllers are intelligent computers that drive compressors. My team builds the low-level software which enables the controllers to talk to the hardware," says Tom Putzeys, Team Leader Software Engineer in Airtec, Belgium.
"My project centers around computer vision, giving Atlas Copco tools ‘eyes’ so they can see and locate bolts in the assembly process. This increases quality of course, but also reduces waste, which is good from an environmental point of view," says Sofia Olsson, PhD student in Electronics and Embedded Systems at KTH Royal Institute of Technology.
"Understanding the effect of friction will help the motor vehicle industry and general industry be able to tighten thread fasteners more efficiently and accurately, and this means you can reduce the weight of the product," says Mayank Kumar, PhD student in System and Component Design at KTH Royal Institute of Technology.
“It’s an exciting period right now, technology is being outdated in years rather than decades, allowing the fresh talent to embrace these changes quicker and come up with ideas for continuous improvements," says Nishita Kavala, Senior project manager in Vacuum Technique.
"I am trying to find better ways to control tightening tools. In the long run the tools will help our customers to run their production line more efficiently and more sustainably," says Nils Dressler, PhD student of Electrical Engineering at Linköping University.
"I’m trying to create software that can do data analytics like a human expert. I want to combine it with something that has a real impact on society, and the manufacturing business is a sector which has that impact," says Lifei Tang, PhD student in Data Analytics.
“In every release of a new software version, I ensure that we deliver high quality products with as few bugs as possible," says Jennifer Tannfelt, Software Tester in the Motor Vehicle Industry division, Sweden.

"I’m in constant contact with our customers, which comprises of going to customer sites, answering questions and clearing any questions that the customer may have.
