Our business partners

We cooperate with business partners who share our respect for human rights and high standards for safety, quality, ethical behavior, and resource efficiency. We perform regular onsite audits to safeguard that our business partners are aligned with our standards.

Significant business partners must commit to our Code of Conduct by signing our Atlas Copco Group Business Partner Criteria. Both documents are available in English and other languages.

We encourage our business partners to use our Code of Conduct Training, which we make available online to everyone. It provides concrete examples of what it means to behave ethically in our everyday work.

Our Prohibited and Declarable Lists

We maintain lists of substances which are either prohibited or must be declared due to their potential negative impact on health or the environment. Prohibited substances are not allowed in the Group’s products or processes. Items containing declarable substances are avoided or replaced whenever possible. Compliance with these lists are part of our Business Partner Criteria which all significant business partners must comply with. Substances of concern are controlled through the Prohibited and Declarable lists.

A distinction is made between ProhibitedPhase-out and Declarable substances:

  • Prohibited substances must not be included unless clearly exempted in the Prohibited and Declarable List.
  • Phase-out substances will soon be included in the Prohibited List and must be phased out.
  • Declarable substances must be reported. Avoiding all substances on the Atlas Copco Group Prohibited List and correctly informing about all declarable substances is part of compliance with our Business Partner Criteria.

Scope

  • Products sold by Atlas Copco Group
  • Items delivered to Atlas Copco Group by any business partners such as suppliers, contractors, or subcontractors
  • Production processes outsourced by Atlas Copco Group

Business partners must check and verify their compliance using the lists below and take the following actions:

Prohibited substances Phase-out substances Declarable substances
Existing items DO NOT USE REPLACE AVOID/ REPORT IF USED
New items DO NOT USE DO NOT USE AVOID

All substances in the Prohibited List and Declarable listst are also contained in a combined list with different filters to make compliance easier for suppliers. We expect our suppliers to adhere to these lists, as well as to any applicable national legislation.

PFAS

Also known as forever chemicals, PFAS are widely used, long lasting chemicals which break down very slowly over time. Atlas Copco Group commits to comply with any legislation which apply to our products such as REACH, ROHS, and TSCA. For this purpose, Atlas Copco Group maintains lists of prohibited and declarable substances that are communicated to our suppliers.

Although certain groups of PFAS have already been phased out (for example PFOA and PFOS), the majority of PFAS have not yet been regulated. Nevertheless, regulations and restrictions on PFAS are currently being introduced in different countries with varying requirements and definitions. Atlas Copco Group is committed to high standards in product safety and to continuously improve our environmental performance. We are therefore currently working with our suppliers to establish the usage of PFAS in our products with the details required for upcoming legislation and reporting requirements. We are also working with suppliers to find viable alternative materials to those containing PFAS.
