May 2021
Education: Studying Finance and Economics at the Kasetsart University, Bangkok, Thailand
Country of placement: Thailand
Field of work: Business Controller - South East Asia Region in Industrial Technique
Interests: Passionate about wakeboarding. ”I like this sport because I get to exercise every muscle in my body and I get to push myself to my limits.”
During the internship Fareeda will be working from Atlas Copco’s office in the Chachoengsao province. More specifically, she is positioned in the financial controller department within Industrial Technique. “I’m very excited to work here, people seem very professional and kind,” Fareeda says and explains that she, during this time, will be supported by a dedicated mentor in the company.
The Internship Program also includes a global project over the summer months. As such, Fareeda will dedicate her efforts to an Employer Branding project together with five other student interns. “We are a team of people from China, Sweden, Turkey and myself from Thailand“ she says.
Gaining a deeper understanding of the business
Fareeda came across the Internship Program through a video on Atlas Copco’s YouTube channel. “After seeing the video, I did a lot of research about the company to learn more about the business, the company vision and the attitude of people in the organization,” she explains. “I look forward to cooperating with the students in the Internship Program and with colleagues here in Atlas Copco, I think it will be a lot of fun” she says. Apart from gaining work experience, she hopes to get a deeper understanding of the business as well as the chance to contribute with her knowledge and ideas.
Checking-in after completed business project
August 2021
How did the project turn out?
I’m very pleased with the outcome of our project. By using both internal and external insights, our team found many areas of improvements regarding employer branding, which was our focus. The challenging part was to try to summarize all this information, insights, and our findings in a good way as we only had a 20-minute-long final presentation. I think our team did well in this final round of presentations, so I’m very proud of us all.
How was the internship experience as a whole?
Overall, these 4 months have been a great experience. It feels like time has gone by so fast. In the business project, my team and I had meetings every week, so we got used to working very closely together. Now when we have completed the project it feels somewhat strange to not collaborate in the same way, but we are busy with our local internship tasks instead. Luckily, we are still in contact with each other, so we still exchange ideas and talk about general matters.
What’s it like working at Atlas Copco?
In this internship I’ve worked 50% on local tasks and 50% on the global business project. This was a nice mix if you ask me. I believe Atlas Copco has a high level of interaction between people in different countries. There’s also less of hierarchy here.
Will this internship help you in your future career?
Definitely! As an intern in the Business Controller Department, I have a variety of responsibilities. Moreover, I’m collaborating with my mentor and members of our customer support team on daily and the monthly closing tasks. These experiences, along with the collaboration with the other international students in the global business project, will for sure help me in the future.
What was the nicest and/or strangest thing you experienced during your internship?
I really appreciated being part of the workshops that were held by the Vice Presidents. The strangest, but also one of the best things, was that even though my team members and I were in different countries and locations during the complete global business project, we were able to deliver a very good solution. Nothing’s impossible!
